Mandamus ready for further progress Sheila Lavery will scour the programme book for a suitable opening for Mandamus after he put up a good effort at the Curragh on Sunday. The Lawman gelding beat all bar Dermot Weld's Stormfly in a hot handicap and proved his 33-1 win at Cork was no fluke. After his success, he finished last of four in the Killavullen Stakes but Lavery is convinced he was not himself that day. "He was bucking and squealing in the field the morning after. I haven't sat down and looked at the programme yet but he is nearly out of handicaps now," she said. "He wasn't right when he ran in the Group Three at Leopardstown last year and I think he didn't run up to his ability there. "We knew he wasn't 100 per cent that day but sometimes you get away with it. I'm just going to have to look at the programme and he needs a cut in the ground. "I have 18 in training and we have 10 two-year-olds. We should have a couple of early types and most of them are pleasing me at the moment."
