Marathon causes fixture change next year The end of the turf season at Leopardstown next year will be a day earlier than originally scheduled due to a change of date for the Dublin City Marathon. The Marathon is normally on the Bank Holiday Monday at the end of October but has been brought back 24 hours in 2016 to Sunday 30th October which would have meant a clash with Leopardstown. As a result of this change, Horse Racing Ireland have agreed the following alteration to the 2016 Fixture List: Wexford - Saturday 29th October - will now be held on Sunday 30th October. Leopardstown - Sunday 30th October - will now be held on Saturday 29th October. Pat Keogh, CEO of Leopardstown Racecourse, said: "Leopardstown are pleased to change the date of our Flat Finale meeting for 2016 to Saturday the 29th October. "We always attract visitors attending the Dublin Marathon to Leopardstown for racing the day before. This change of date allows us to continue to cater for the visitors to Dublin."
