Marnane wins Portland Handicap for second time The David Marnane trained Nocturnal Affair gained a narrow victory in the Ladbrokes Portland Handicap at Doncaster today. Marnane won this event two years ago with Santo Padre and he repeated the trick with Joseph O'Brien in the saddle. The duo raced down the centre of the track and looked sure to be involved in a very close finish but the 14-1 chance pulled out extra close home to score by half a length from Confessional. Addictive Dream and Ancient Cross filled the frame.
