Maxios lands the d'Ispahan Maxios got up close home to deny Planteur in the Prix d'Ispahan at Longchamp. Planteur, third in the Dubai World Cup on his previous start, looked like landing the Group One spoils for Newmarket trainer Marco Botti when he stormed past Don Bosco under Christophe Soumillon. However, Stephane Pasquier had other ideas and brought the Jonathan Pease-trained Maxios with a telling run to get up in the dying strides Mandour was third but Sir Henry Cecil's raider Beauty Parlour disappointed on her return to action. The former French-based filly could never get in a blow and was sixth of the seven runners. Paddy Power gave Maxios a quote of 16/1 for the Coral-Eclipse Stakes at Sandown on July 6. Olivier Peslier had landed the Group One Prix Sain-Alary earlier on the card with a sensational late aboard Silasol run to cut down Alterite in the last stride. A change of tactics saw the Carlos Laffon-Parias-trained filly held up off the early pace, but the move paid dividends as the filly hit top gear in the final 150 metres to score by a head.
