McCullagh 'on the mend' from injuries Niall McCullagh could leave hospital this week as he continues to recover from serious injuries suffered in a fall on the gallops. McCullagh, who won the Irish St Leger on Royal Diamond in 2012, suffered a collapsed lung with bruising, fractured ribs and a fractured collarbone when riding out for Frank Dunne. He is in Connolly Hospital, Blanchardstown, in Dublin Speaking on Sunday afternoon, McCullagh's father, trainer Michael, said: "They took the tube out of his lung yesterday, and he may get out (of hospital) on Tuesday. "He has 10 broken ribs, not seven, and a broken collarbone as well as the collapsed lung, but he's able to walk around and is very much on the mend."
