McManus Swoops J P McManus, so often in the news through his varied sporting and business interests, has made the headlines once again today with his purchase of Champion Chaser, Flagship Uberalles.Apparently the American owners had become weary of the travel involved to see their charge in action and so came about the transaction which will see the nine-year-old now carry the famous green and gold silks.The gelding who is likely to have cost quite a considerable sum will stay with present trainer Phillip Hobbs and won't appear again until attempting to defend his title at Cheltenham in March.
