Noel Meade reports Burgas on course for the Ladbrokes Troytown Handicap Chase at Navan on Sunday.

Meade won the €100,000 prize with another Gigginstown gelding Tout Est Permis last season and is hopeful Burgas can step up after having had a wind operation.

The French-bred gelding is yet to strike over fences, having been placed nine times, and is generally a 20/1 shot for the competitive three-mile contest.

Meade said:- “Burgas definitely runs in the Troytown and De Name Escapes Me might run. I’ll have to talk to Frank (Berry) about it.

“Burgas has had a wind op and hopefully that will sort him out as he wasn’t getting home. I’m very happy with the way he worked this week.

“It will be a hard task first time out (this season) but he’s in good form and likes soft ground.”

Meade also had news of exciting novice hurdler Sixshooter:-

“Sixshooter may run at Navan in the Monksfield. We’ll see what Gigginstown want to do as he’s also entered at Gowran on Saturday.”
