Paddy Twomey is hoping the decision to supplement City Of Memphis can reap rewards in the Tattersalls Irish 1,000 Guineas at the Curragh on Sunday.

The Sioux Nation filly made a big impression on her debut at Cork earlier in the month when sent to post a warm order.

That initial success came over six furlongs but Twomey believes stepping up in trip will prove no issue for his charge.

“City Of Memphis obviously won her maiden very well and has been supplemented for the Guineas,” said the Golden handler.

"We think she's a filly with a bit of class.

"She doesn’t rush anything. She travels and I think she’ll be ok going up in distance.

“People think all Sioux Nations are sprinters but if you study them, they stay further than you think.”

Twomey is also represented in the other Group 1 on Sunday with Deepone taking his chance in the Tattersalls Gold Cup.

The Study Of Man gelding won the Group 2 Beresford Stakes as a juvenile but has made only one start since, finishing fourth in the Ballysax Stakes at Leopardstown in April of last year.

“He was an intended runner in Chester and we had a travel issue where he wasn’t allowed to run.

“Ideally he’d have run in the Huxley and then gone for the Tattersalls Gold Cup.

“He’s been off for a long time but has trained well all winter.”
