Mont Ormel a possibility for the Arc now Pia Brandt says she was "not shocked" by the success of Mont Ormel in the Grand Prix de Paris at Saint-Cloud. Sent off the outsider of the eight-runner field, the Air Chief Marshal colt, who had previously claimed a Listed race at Compiegne, held off Ed Dunlop's Red Verdon to give the trainer a first Group One win. The Swedish national has made France her home but is probably best known to British racegoers through her win at Lingfield on All-Weather Champions Finals Day last year with Fresles. "I was not shocked, he is progressing all the time and we knew he had a good horse," she told At The Races. "I didn't expect him to do something so big yet. "He beat a good field, in a good way. He (Cristian Demuro, jockey) got the gap on the inside so kicked and he fought all the way to the line - it's the first time I've seen him as a real racehorse. "The beginning of the year was not what we hoped for at the end of last year, but his run before (the Grand Prix de Paris) showed that he was really on the way up now. "We will discuss what we are going to do, he's not entered in the Arc but it might be an opportunity. "The owners already have one of the favourites for the Arc in La Cressonniere so we'll have to discuss that. "I've been in France a little bit more than 10 years. The last couple of years we have a stronger stable and hope to attract new owners and better horses. It's fantastic to win a Group One and I hope it won't take another 10 years."
