Shane Nolan is giving Charlie Stout a mini-break after having had three races in December.

The County Kildare trainer plans to run the six-year-old again in about a month after his latest start that saw him take third place behind Thirsty Work at Leopardstown.

"He has been improving away, with every race he is getting," said Nolan.

"He gets two and a half miles no problem, but he likes a strong gallop so we have just been running him away over two miles.

"As he learns to relax in his races, and learns to race properly we will start stepping him up in trip. I'd say he'll even stay three miles.

"He has had plenty of racing before Christmas, so he won't be out again until towards the end of the month or early February.

"I think he will keep improving away, and whatever he does over hurdles is a bonus as he is going to make into a much better chaser.

"He is a lovely horse and jumps really well."
