MORPHINE TESTING MAY SOON BE REDUCED The Turf Club is planning to reduce the amount of testing for morphine after recent sample results have shown up negative for the banned substance. The procedure of just testing winners has been doubled up in recent weeks with a blood sample also being taken from the runner-up. Chief executive Denis Egan explained, `We will again test the runners-up at Thurles (Wednesday) and, if the results are all clear on Friday, we may discontinue testing the runners-up.`He added, `The screenings at the three meetings last weekend were all clear for morphine. I won`t say that we are at the end of all this, but it is looking encouraging.`
