Morris pair sidelined for a few weeks Mouse Morris reports both First Lieutenant and Venalmar will be on the easy list for the next few weeks after running at Fairyhouse yesterday, a meeting that was cancelled after four races in the interests of safety due to concerns over the ground. First Lieutenant, third in the Irish Stallion Owners Novice Hurdle, has sore shins, while Venalmar is slightly lame after losing a shoe when pulled up after three out in the Fairyhouse Comes Closer Beginners Chase. “It's just one of those things, and thankfully we still have two horses to go to war with. I will give them a few weeks off to freshen up,” said Morris. “I was initially very disappointed after First Lieutenant finished third but, after watching a replay of the race, could see that he stumbled three times. Venalmar made a few mistakes and both horses just couldn't cope on the ground.”
