Morris to keep Sams Profile over hurdles this term Mouse Morris has decided to remain over hurdles for the time being with his useful prospect Sams Profile. The Black Sam Bellamy gelding was twice runner-up at Grade One level last term in novice hurdles at Naas and Punchestown. Having won his only start in point-to-points at Cragmore for Michael Goff in February 2018, he won a maiden hurdle first time up at Cork this time last year before chasing home Batttleoverdoyen in the Lawlor’s Of Naas Novice Hurdle in January. He again found only one too good when half a length off Reserve Tank in the Alanna Homes Champion Novice Hurdle at the Punchestown Festival in May. In between those two runs, he finished fifth behind City Island in the Ballymore Novices’ Hurdle at the Cheltenham Festival. Fethard trainer Morris outlined his plans for the season with the Michael O’Flynn-owned five-year-old. “He’s still very immature and we have decided to keep him over hurdles this season. He’s so big and is built like a tank. “Hopefully we’ll have him out after Christmas and the Stayers Hurdle is the main long-term target. If all went well he could go for something like the Boyne Hurdle before Cheltenham. “We’ll wait until next season before sending him over fences. “I’ve about 35 horses this season and there are some nice four-year-olds to go over hurdles.”
