Henry de Bromhead thinks the BHP Insurances Irish Champion Hurdle would be "high on the list" as an option for Petit Mouchoir.

The six-year-old propelled himself into the Champion Hurdle picture with a seven-length success over Nichols Canyon in the Ryanair Hurdle at Leopardstown last week, making amending for a late departure in the Fighting Fifth Hurdle on his previous start.

De Bromhead told At The Races: "He seems good. We haven't discussed it as yet, but it (Irish Champion Hurdle) would certainly be high on the list.

"It (performance) was what you'd hoped, he was going so well in the Fighting Fifth at the time he fell and his form from last year was good as well.

"But then you're talking about Nichols Canyon - expected, no, but what I hoped might happen. What I hope for doesn't usually materialise!"

He added: "He's 10-1 or 12-1 in the betting for the English Champion Hurdle, I think we're entitled to look down that road and see. It looked a very impressive performance to my eye, but we'll see."
