Mubtaker Not Certain For Newbury Mubtaker is not certain to bid for a fourth successive victory in the Stan James Geoffrey Freer Stakes at Newbury on Saturday.The eight-year-old entire is one of 10 entries still in the Group Two contest following the five-day confirmation stage.But trainer Marcus Tregoning admits the 3lb penalty Mubtaker has incurred for this year´s renewal may see him go for a conditions event at Newmarket on Friday instead.'I shall not make a decision until he´s had a work-out on Tuesday,' said Tregoning.'In years gone by he was not penalised for the Geoffrey Freer and as this is a better race, we have entered him for the conditions race at Newmarket.'Mubtaker finished a disappointing 11th of 12 runners in the King George VI And Queen Elizabeth Diamond Stakes last month, but Tregoning expects him to return to form regardless of which race he ends up in.However, the Lambourn handler is unsure whether the Geoffrey Freer Stakes - or the Newmarket race - will be Mubtaker´s swansong.'He is in very good form and looks really well,' added Tregoning.
