May Call You Back completed a double for Willie Mullins, as she just held off Sayitfirst in the Pickardstown Handicap Chase.

For the sixth time in succession, the Walk In The Park seven-year-old was sent off favourite and returned a 7/4 chance in the colours of owner Pauline Carroll.

Tracking the leaders under Brian Hayes, the now four-time winner took closer order in second after three out and led before the next.

Steadied into the last, she was strongly pressed on the run-in and was all out at the line to hold off the aforementioned Sayitfirst, with just a short head between them at the line.

The runner-up, who won at Sligo recently, was returned at 8/1, while Polly Poppins (6/1) was a further three-and-a-quarter lengths back in third.

"She was very game and was mad tough," Hayes reflected.

"She just pricked her ears coming down to the last and had a right look at it. She got in under the bottom of it and it took her a while to get going again. I'm delighted with her.

"There was two front-runners and I just sat off the fast pace and followed them. She winged the second last and landed with momentum and I set her about. She idled on the run-in.

"She's been mixing it between hurdles and fences and she's doing her job. I think she is better over fences as she is a real good jumper and has loads of scope. She always feels a bit limited over hurdles but over fences she seems to have a little more.

"She likes it here and that's her second win here."

Mullins earlier claimed the third with Venusienne

STEWARDS REPORT

The Raceday Stewards enquired into possible interference in the closing stages of this race involving May Call You Back (GB), ridden by B. Hayes, placed first, and Sayitfirst, ridden by G. Brouder, placed second, where it appeared interference may have occurred. Evidence was heard from the riders concerned. B. Hayes stated that his mount idled in front and was following the line of the rail. G. Brouder stated that his mount was coming with his run and was slightly intimidated. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Raceday Stewards made no alteration to the Judge's placings and took no further action.
