Murphy confident much more to come from Impervious Colm Murphy believes there is untapped potential in his star mare Impervious when she returns from injury. The seven-year-old daughter of Shantou had an impeccable novice chasing season since landing her beginners' chase at Wexford in October last year. Her upward trajectory saw her take a Grade 2 mares' novices' chase at Cork and a Grade 3 novice chase in Punchestown before Grade 2 festival successes at Cheltenham and Punchestown in March and April respectively. She was back cantering this season before injuring a joint which has seen her on the easy list since September. Murphy said: “I’m told she’s good and is recuperating (at owner JP McManus’ Martinstown Stud), but I’m not sure when she is likely to be back. She’s in the right hands so we’ll just wait and see. “It was gutting for everyone involved. She was one to really look forward to and there is still untapped potential there.” Additional reporting by Alan Magee
