My Newbrook Rose caused a 20/1 upset to win the BetVictor Handicap Hurdle at Thurles today, scoring for trainer Adrian Murray and jockey Jonathan Moore.

The seven year old daughter of Doyen was a point-to-point winner at Castletown-Geoghegan last April and while she failed in her initial six hurdle outings, today scored a two and a half lengths win over Fourina .

Afterwards trainer Murray stated “the last day the ground was very heavy and she didn't act on it at all.

“I thought she'd run well today as she had a nice run here in a maiden so I was expecting her to step up a bit.

“That's her first time to run over this trip on the track and I wasn't too worried about it as she'd won over three miles in a point-to-point before.

“We'll look for something similar. We'll go for another hurdle anyway and she could jump a fence next year.”
