Mythical Rock gains deserved first success Maiden Mythical Rock (100/30jf) ended a long losing spell in landing Dundalk’s Follow Us On X @DundalkStadium Handicap today, scoring for owner Dorothy Heffernan, 7lb-claiming jockey Conor Cusack and trainer Pat Murphy. Runner-up five times and placed third six times from 25 previously unsuccessful attempts, the five-year-old improved to lead under two furlongs out in today’s race and, while pressed by Beat The Devil in the closing stages, held on for a half-length success. Trainer Murphy led up the winner and Cusack commented "He has been a very frustrating horse for connections as the days we think he will win, he lets us down. However, I felt the way he finished off the last day, there would be a day in him. "Nothing was really coming to me turning in, so I said I would try and slip the field and he has toughed it out well. Usually, he's a horse that when he gets to the front, he idles and he half-parked today. I pulled my whip through, though, and he saw it out very well.” He added “That's my fourth winner, I had three in the space of two weeks (last July) and then nothing for about five months. "Pat has a nice couple of horses to go to the turf and I get great support from Henry (de Bromhead) and Danny McLoughlin as well, so hopefully I will start to roll on the turf."
