Naas is currently fit for racing but will have to pass an early morning inspection on Sunday if the meeting is to go ahead this weekend.

Clerk of the Course Brendan Sheridan gave an update this morning saying, “We’ve had 39mm of rain this week alone, with 9mm since yesterday morning when the ground turned heavy.

“The rain this week has been very heavy in many places and, with the volume of rain falling, it has been difficult for forecasters to predict exact numbers and unfortunately the outlook into the weekend is pretty similar.

“Speaking to Met Eireann this morning, there is the possibility we will get a further 15 to 20mm of rain through to Sunday morning.

“In light of that forecast and the current heavy ground conditions, we have called an inspection at 7.30am on Sunday. We are fit for racing at present.”

The seven-race card, which is scheduled to get under way at 12.55, features two Grade 3 events — the Naas Business Club Limestone Lad Hurdle and Finlay Ford At Naas Novice Chase.
