Naturalist injured and out for season Naturalist is sidelined for the rest of the season after he sustained a leg injury in the Derrinstown Stud Derby Trial at Leopardstown last month. The son of Nathaniel was pulled up lame by jockey Billy Lee two furlongs from the finish of the Group Three contest, won by Douglas Macarthur. Trainer Willie McCreery said: "He fractured his cannon bone so he had five screws put in and hopefully he can recover and be able to race next year. "His sire Nathaniel had a good winner of the Oaks (Enable) at Epsom." It was only Naturalist's second run of his career following a debut second to Insayshable at Leopardstown in April, with subsequent Chester Vase winner Venice Beach third.
