Night is Electric on turf debut With her previous four efforts coming on the all-weather at Dundalk, Electric Night made a successful transition to turf in the first divide of the Mr Binman Handicap. Running some solid races in defeat at the Co Louth venue, the Joseph O'Brien-trained three-year-old was sent off a 16/5 chance today. Racing in mid-division under Declan McDonogh, the Philip Antonacci-owned bay was switched to the outer from early in the straight and soon made good headway. Sweeping to the front with a furlong to go, she quickly settled matters and came home three-and-a-quarter lengths clear of fellow three-year-old Nicky Larson (12/1). Successful when last seen at Dundalk, Bella Colmbia (8/1) was another length-and-a-half away in third, while Glamazon (3/1f from 8s early) was fourth. Kevin Blake, representing O'Brien, said: "The switch to the grass was a big help for her and the easy ground wasn't a concern, as the feeling was that she mightn't have been loving Dundalk. We came to find out, she won very well and it was probably a fair effort against older horses. "When she started off, we were hoping she'd win a Dundalk maiden but she was disappointing and had also been slow to come to hand. She is a well-bred filly and hopefully she can progress."
