No Trip Worries For Demon

Henrietta Knight is confident Racing Demon will handle the step up to three miles in the Stan James King George VI Chase at Kempton on St Stephen´s day.

The six-year-old proved his mettle with a convincing four-length success over Thisthatandtother in the totesport.com Peterborough Chase, atoning for a disappointing show in the William Hill Gold Cup when he unseated Graham Lee.

'He's absolutely bursting out of his skin this morning,' reported Knight yesterday.

'I'm very, very pleased with him and I think the run will have done him a lot of good, I think it will really make a man of him.

'I think it will bring him on a lot and I think there is still a bit more to come.'

Although Racing Demon has won over two and a half miles, he has yet to be tried over further than two miles and five furlongs.

However, having scored over just short of that trip at the weekend, Knight is sure he will see out the three miles of the Christmas showpiece, where he will clash with brilliant Haydock winner Kauto Star.

'The King George is the plan and the question would have to be how he will take to the three miles,' the Wantage trainer added.

'I think he will be fine as he finished second in the SunAlliance Hurdle at the Festival last year and he was staying on there so he should take to three miles.

'He should like Kempton and as the press keep telling me he jumps violently right, a right-handed track should suit him.'

Racing Demon is as low as 5-1 with totesport for the Boxing Day feature, with the hugely exciting Kauto Star the 5-4 favourite.
