Noble Honour off the mark back in maiden company The Jessica Harrington trained Noble Honour stayed on best under Shane Foley to win the opening Clonmel Racecourse Supporters Club Fillies & Mares Maiden. Placed on all three previous maiden runs, the Ace Stud owned filly had failed to beat a single rival when trailing home last of six on her handicap debut at the Curragh in July. Clearly that was not her true form as the 9/4 chance shed her maiden tag here with a game performance. Prominent in the early stages, Foley elected to drop his mount into third from before halfway. Coming through to lead two furlongs out, Noble Honour kept on well to deny market leader Shanala by half-a-length. Shane Foley reported: "It was probably jockey and trainer error the last day, as we let her take her chance on quick ground which didn't work. Luckily enough, she looked after herself and she enjoyed the ease in the ground today. "She parked completely when she hit the front, as I thought she was going to win by a couple of lengths, but was always holding on. "She is a filly we've always liked but didn't progress like we might have liked. She might now have a nice finish (to the year) on soft ground." (Quotes by Thomas Weekes).
