Ob La Di dominates from the front under Coen Carrying the Galway Plate winning silks of Weld-Spec (Glasgow) Limited, Ob La Di made virtually all in the concluding Naas Racecourse Handicap. A winner at Bellewstown last summer, the Johnny Murtagh-trained four-year-old had failed to make a significant impact in recent starts and was sent off a 10/1 chance today. Skipping a few lengths clear from early in the straight, the 78-rated bay was pushed along with over two-furlongs to go and kept finding for pressure when ridden, ultimately coming home two-and-three-quarters of a length to the good. There was a bunch finish for minor honours, with Some Good Men Gone (28/1) filling the runner-up spot, just a head and a short head in front of Keilah (9/1) and Jr Mahon (33/1) in third and fourth respectively. Returned the 7/2 favourite, Molto Amichi got going late and was a close-up fifth. "I think a mile and five last time was a bit too far for her. She travelled well into the straight and didn't get home," Murtagh reflected. "Ben thought a mile and a quarter around here and let her use that good stride she has. She got it nice and easy in front and quickened up well in the straight. "I'm delighted to get another winner for John Wright and Max and the family. They have been good supporters. "She's a nice filly and always went better than a 78." Additional reporting by Alan Magee
