Obscenity came from well back to justify favouritism in the Sonix Entertainment Handicap over an extended mile-and-a-half in Gowran Park.

Joey Sheridan 's mount was fully second last in this big field as they straightened for home.

He switched him right off heels approaching the final couple of furlongs and the Fastnet Rock gelding began to motor.

He had a lovely clear route as he progressed into second at the furlong pole in pursuit of Beauparc and he raced past her in the closing stages to go on by a length and three quarters at 7/2.

Runner-up Beauparc was a 9/2 chance and finished two-and-three-quarter-lengths clear of Stellar Quality (10/1).

Joseph O'Brien said: “He did well because we lost our spot early, I think he was a bit sluggish away from the gate and we ended up out of position a bit.

“Luckily, there was a good enough tempo on and he was able to come from where he was.

“He had a good run the last day and he backed it up today.

“He’s 78 today, so he’ll be 85 or so the next day, that puts him into a ‘90’ or something like that. There might be something for him Derby weekend.

“We’ll speak to PJ (Colville) and the team and see.

“I think a mile-and-a-half is nice for him and he likes top of the ground.”

The Raceday Stewards enquired into an incident rounding the bend passed the stands involving Stellar Quality, ridden by S. Foley, and unplaced Voice Of Reason ridden by J. Pietropaolo. Evidence was heard from the riders concerned. S Foley stated that he received pressure from his outside and had to take a check. J Pietropaolo stated that he felt he was clear of Stellar Quality when he moved in but accepted on further viewing that was not clear at the time. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Raceday Stewards were satisfied that J Pietropaolo was in breach of Rule 214 in that he had ridden carelessly, and having considered his record in this regard (second offence),the Raceday Stewards suspended him for four racedays. D P McDonogh accompanied J Pietropaolo in this enquiry.
