O'Callaghan writes exciting script for Letters Michael O'Callaghan is confident Letters Of Note can take high rank in the sprinting division following her promising display in the Renaissance Stakes at the Curragh on Saturday. Winner of a Listed contest at Naas last month, the daughter of Azamour was pitched in against her elders for the first time over the weekend and was not beaten far in fifth. O'Callaghan, whose Rapid Applause was last of nine in the same Group Three contest, raised the possibility of dropping Letters Of Note to the minimum distance. He said: " Letters Of Note ran very well, but Rapid Applause was very disappointing. "Joseph (O'Brien) said Rapid Applause's mind wasn't on the job. He got upset beforehand and sweated up and his race was over before it started. "I was delighted with Letters Of Note. Pat (Smullen) was over the moon with her and said it was frightening how much speed she has. "She travelled so well through the race and was just beaten by more match-hardened sprinters on the day. "I think we can now think about going back to five furlongs if we want. "She's a very exciting filly to look forward to, particularly next year, when she'll be part of the older generation. "Hopefully she can make her mark at a high level."
