O'Connor making progress

Matthew 'Strawberry' O'Connor who suffered a heavy fall in Thurles at the end of last month is making great progress all of the time in Cork University Hospital.

Turf Club Medical Officer Dr Walter Halley who is a relative of the family said today, "It's all good news, Matthew has been weaned off his medically induced coma and has been taken off the ventilator and is breathing on his own now. He has full movement of his upper and lower limbs and is obeying commands. He is being monitored and will be kept monitored for some time. It is a great relief to the O'Connor Family and they are very grateful for all the cards and messages they have received. He is still not up to visitors yet."

Dr Halley also added, "Dr John Downey and The Order Of Malta team did a fantastic job on moving Matt from Thurles Racecourse to Hospital."
