O'Neill top man between the flags After the final day of the season at Ballingarry Barry O'Neill has emerged top of the pile to take the 2016/17 champion point-to-point rider title. Fellow Wexford native Jamie Codd put O'Neill to the pin of his collar but the Ballindaggin man held on to win on a scoreline of 66-65. So closely associated with the Colin Bowe stable O'Neill rode three winners yesterday at Ballingarry whilst Codd had two at Kinsale. That left the score at 66 v 63. Indeed Codd could have drawn the title today after wins on Malpensa and Screaming Colours, if his brother William's Fivecardstud had landed the Bike Park Ireland, Fairymount Farm & Seymore Kenny Winner Of Three. However it wasn't to be and nobody will begrudge O'Neill his title. Not surprisingly given the excellent campaign enjoyed by 'Bon' it's Bowe that tops the leading handlers table at season's end.
