After pleasing efforts on his first two starts, Oro Blanco (11/1) got off the mark in the the seven-furlong maiden at Fairyhouse.

With stable jockey Shane Foley on shorter-priced stablemate Suspicious Mindz (seventh), Scott McCullagh rode the Havana Grey gelding for Jessica Harrington.

From a wide draw, the winner got into a good position tracking the pace and took over approaching the final furlong to beat Krasimir by two and a-half lengths in the colours of the Rebels & Rogues Syndicate.

Sent off Evens favourite, the 107-rated Al Haarith never got involved and finished well down the field.

Assistant trainer Kate Harrington said “We’re delighted with him. Ciaran O’Toole picked him up at the Goffs Classic Sale last year.

“We bided our time with him, gave him plenty of time, and fair play to the lads. He was just a big, weak, horse last year.

“He’s progressed from each run. He’s a nice progressive horse. We’ll see where we go from here.”

O’Toole added “When I was at the sales, Bobby O’Ryan gave me great encouragement to buy him and I have to thank him. I was losing my bottle and he told me to keep going!”
