One-eyed Getaway Henry (22/1) gave Co Cork-based restricted trainer Danny O’Leary a second success today, landing Clonmel’s Bulmers Berries Handicap Hurdle (Div II) under jockey Gavin Brouder.

Racing prominently, blinkered Getaway Henry travelled well and while he noticeably sized up the final two hurdles, ran on well on the run-in to score by two and a-quarter lengths from Sidiriya in the colours of the Knockgloss Racing Partnership-owned nine-year-old

Winning trainer Danny O'Leary explained "Getaway Henry ran no race the last day at Limerick which we couldn’t understand, but he only has one eye and was on the inside, so I think he was doing nothing at all.

“He lost his (off) eye as a foal out in the field and my sister Christina, who bred him, tips away with him, but he ran so badly the last day that she didn’t come today!

“We have two horses and the other one is a half-sister Pixie Hill, who runs tomorrow at Punchestown.

"We are based near Freemount in north Cork and use Alex Ott’s gallops a lot and also Eugene O’Sullivan’s. I previously worked for Gerry Cully and Michael Hourigan and we are farming so this is a hobby. Please God this fella can win again.”

Getaway Henry had given O’Leary a first success at Wexford in 2024.
