Pandorama showed there was still some fire in the engine when runner-up to Roi Du Mee in the Grade 3 Imperial Call Chase at Cork on Easter Sunday, and the injury-plagued gelding looks set to line up in the Bet Online With The Tote.com Punchestown Gold Cup on April 24.

The four-time Grade 1 winner was off the course for 21 months before bidding to relive former glory in the Lexus Chase at Leopardstown last Christmas, and setbacks have further curtailed his appearances this season.

Trainer Noel Meade said of the ten-year-old Flemensfirth gelding, “He pulled a ligament up high behind in the Lexus and it took me a while to get him back after that. We struggled a bit with him after the Lexus and when he ran in Cork he was probably only three-quarter way there.

“He came back a wee bit sore behind again after Cork but he’s coming along nicely now and hopefully if the ground is soft in Punchestown he’ll run there in the Gold Cup.”
