Pilot to have a shot at a Group 1 Ralph Beckett is considering another crack at a Group One with Air Pilot following his game win at Naas on Sunday. The eight-year-old collared Success Days in the final strides to win the Alleged Stakes under Fran Berry. With cut in the ground a prerequisite, his target could ultimately be decided by the going, but the Tattersalls Gold Cup and Coronation Cup are being considered. "He has been a great servant. I wasn't surprised he won on Sunday, but I was surprised he managed to pull it off given how well the second ran," said Beckett. "The second horse was game and he takes a bit of getting past. He managed to do that and I was delighted. Funnily enough that was the first time he has been in a battle like that from what I can remember. When he has done his winning, he has done it fairly easily or he has been out-pointed significantly. "He got a terrific ride from Fran and that helped. Fran was very patient on him and took his time in taking aim. "I wouldn't mind having a swing at a big prize under the right conditions. He was fifth in the Champion Stakes (2015), not beaten far. The softer it is, the better he is. It is as simple as that. "Now he is a bit longer in the tooth, I wouldn't mind trying a mile and a half again. We will keep trying with him. "The Tattersalls Gold Cup is a possibility and I wouldn't rule that out. It tends to be a strong heat nowadays as Aidan (O'Brien) supports the race strongly. There are various other races for him. "Fran was talking after the race and said would you not think about a Coronation Cup. He ran very well around Epsom as an inexperienced five-year-old on only his fourth start and loved it. You wouldn't rule that out under the right conditions. It is always good ground on the Friday of that meeting. "He has done his job for the year, but I would like to have another crack at a big one."
