Pollard detained overnight

Neil Pollard will spend the night in hospital following a crashing fall at Folkestone this afternoon.

The jockey was unseated from Armada Grove in the folkestone-racecourse.co.uk Median Auction Stakes just over a furlong out when the Alan Jarvis-trained filly, who was travelling like a winner, suddenly jinked and parted company with Pollard.

Although the rider sustained no serious injuries, his agent Keith Bradley confirmed he will be detained in hospital overnight.

He said: 'He`s come out of his X-rays and scans and things look okay although the nurse says he is still quite concussed and not making much sense.

'The nurse said he will stay in at least tonight.'

Initial fears were that Pollard was badly injured after he was taken by air ambulance to William Harvey Hospital.

However, Bradley stressed that this measure was taken to enable racing to go ahead at the track.
