Powerscourt Retired To Stud

Dual Group One winner Powerscourt has ran his last race and will retire to Coolmore´s Ashford Stud in Kentucky.

Winner of the Arlington Million in August and last year´s Tattersalls Gold Cup, the five-year-old was being aimed at the Breeders´ Cup Turf on Saturday week, but was ruled out earlier this week after a setback.

Trainer Aidan O´Brien told the Racing Post: 'I very much wanted to win the Breeders´ Cup Turf with him but he wasn´t quite right on Monday, so we´ve decided to retire him.

'Like many of the best 10-furlong horses, Powerscourt has that ability to quicken.

He´s a very tough and genuine horse and was a joy to train.'
