The subject of support at fancy prices this morning, Waxies Dargle showed that to be shrewd money when he made a victorious career debut in the Munster (Pro-Am) INH Flat Race at Limerick.

Aidan O'Brien's Draco looked like he had them all in trouble from early in the straight but he wilted a furlong out as it boiled down to a match between Waxies Dargle (Mikey Fogarty up) and Harvey Logan .

In truth it was always looking as if the former would just about edge this one and he held off Harvey Logan (a Noel Meade/Nina Carberry first-timer) by half a length.

Winning owner Eamon Purcell is from Naas and he was on the score-sheet recently too courtesy of another Mickey Cleary-trained runner, Stoichkhov at Dundalk on March 8th.

Unfortunately Jane Mangan's mount Onwiththeparty came down around two furlongs out but thankfully both were okay afterwards. (TW & EM)
