Quick Jack takes the last at Cheltenham Quick Jack justified favouritism in the last at Cheltenham, the Countryside Raceday Novices' Handicap Hurdle, scoring under Ruby Walsh for Tony Martin. The four-year-old son of Footstepsinthesand has been busy over the last while, and after winning on the level at Newmarket in August, he finished second to Rich Coast in a valuable handicap at Listowel. He appeared the very next day at the Co Kerry venue to win a handicap hurdle, and the following month he won on the level at Naas. He was then just touched off in the November Handicap at Leopardstown, less than two weeks ago, and back over hurdles this afternoon, he was supported on-course from 9/4 into clear 15/8 favouritism at the off. Held up towards for most, the John Breslin owned gelding made steady headway at the third last. He came with his challenge between the last two flights, hitting the front at the last, before staying on well on the run-in, when ridden, scoring by two and a quarter lengths. Deep Trouble finished second at 20/1 under Wayne Hutchinson, with Three Kingdoms (16/1) third, and Maxi Chop (25/1) fourth.
