Willie Mullins has been a bit light on bumper talent so far this season but he looks to have a useful sort in the shape of Quiryn who scored in impressive fashion on debut in the Fifty Stars At Sunnyhill Stud (Pro/Am) Flat Race a Naas.

The Sottsass gelding was well supported on track from 100/30 into 9/4 and quickened clear inside the final furlong.

Patrick Mullins’ mount got well on top in the closing stages to beat Apache Peak by nine lengths, with 7/4 favourite Hartford a further four lengths back in third.

Mullins was represented by his assistant David Casey who said, “He’d been working well, and we were hoping he’d put up a good performance.

“We’ve always liked him since we got him, and he’s done all the right things at home. He’s a fine big horse and I think he’ll improve away.

“There are good horses in his pedigree, and he was ready to run on the Flat in France before we got him.

“I don’t know what was in the race but all he can do is win and I thought he was impressive doing it. Hopefully he’ll go on to better things.”

Paddy Power introduced Quiryn at 25/1 for the Cheltenham Festival Bumper.
