This afternoon's meeting at Clonmel, featuring the Clonmel Oil Chase, has been given the green light despite earlier fears caused by heavy rainfall.

Officials report that conditions are no longer being monitored and the seven-race card will go ahead as scheduled with the action getting underway at 12.55pm.

The ground is heavy and the rain has ceased.

Clerk of the Course Lorcan Wyer earlier stated, "The ground is heavy, but I'm happy to run horses on it.

"The Met Office are saying we've had the big numbers (of rainfall) and the next band of rain isn't due to come in until after racing has finished.

"We'll obviously see how things go, but we've got fresh ground on both tracks (hurdle and chase)."
