Racing Legend Breasley Dies

Australia's most decorated jockey Scobie Breasley has died after suffering a stroke, according to reports Down Under.

Breasley, the first Australian jockey to find success in Britain, passed away on Tuesday aged 92 according to Channel Nine.

Born in Wagga Wagga in 1914, Breasley boasted two Epsom Derby victories, five Caulfield Cups and a Prix de l'Arc De Triomphe in a career which featured 3,251 wins.

The first jockey from Australia to successfully work in Britain, Breasley had stunning success, riding 2,161 winners, including 10 consecutive seasons of 100-plus winners from 1955 to 1964.

He is one of the most revered figures in Australian racing, and the annual medal for the best jockey in Victoria is named in his honour.

Channel Nine reported that Breasley had suffered a stroke on Monday night before passing away early on Tuesday morning.
