His son Colin was out of luck over at Epsom in the Derby when down the field on The Lion In Winter, but dad Gerry kept home fires burning when saddling Ragmans Corner to win the Balreask Bar, Catering At Navan Racecourse Handicap.

Jack Kearney did the steering on the successful 9/2 shot, and the Wet Room Syndicate-owned six-year-old added to jumps successes secured at Galway in October and Punchestown in January.

This afternoon the Kalanisi gelding was two lengths too good for Nans View

"They are a local syndicate," revealed Keane.

"He's a grand horse and has kept improving all along from the early days when he was a bit backward and weak.

"It was a competitive race and he probably was entitled to be near favourite on his last run. He had a little setback in Punchestown and he bled that day for some reason. We didn't really find a lot wrong, but we gave him a month off. He just probably needed it in Roscommon the last day, he just tied up in the last furlong.

"He's very good over hurdles, he's a serious jumper. He'll mix it now. The lads would be anxious to go to Galway, there's a few races for him there anyway."
