Rain proves a trump card for Spanish Temptress Spanish Temptress again showed her liking for soft ground when justifying strong support to record a fourth career win in the Ballyduane Stud Fillies Handicap at Limerick. The Richard O’Brien-trained filly was available at 100/30 overnight and with ground conditions changing significantly to soft, soft to heavy in places, went off the 13/8 favourite. Keithen Kennedy dictated matters from the front in this mile event and didn’t need to get serious inside the final furlong as she kept on well to score by two lengths. Tofino took the runner-up spot with Anvika a further length and a quarter away in third. O’Brien was at the other meeting in Down Royal and Kennedy commented, “I was chatting to Richard and Billy (Lee, regular jockey) beforehand, and they told me 'whatever you do, don't make the running' so it wasn't the plan to make the running. When I got down to the start, nobody wanted to make it and she pinged the gates. "I slowed it up the whole way and we got an easy run around. I got it very easy out in front, I walked around and I'd say she'd have a harder piece of work. She is a tough filly." Quotes by Tom Weekes
