Redback gets Guineas go-ahead

Redback has been given the go-ahead to tackle Saturday`s Sagitta 2000 Guineas and try and provide jockey Darryll Holland with a Classic double following success in Italy on Wednesday.

Connections had been mulling over whether to send the Richard Hannon-trained Greenham Stakes winner to France for the French equivalent or to stay at home.

However, Holland, who landed the Italian 2000 Guineas on Dupont, confirmed this morning: 'I will be on Redback in the 2000 Guineas and he must have a great each-way chance.

'He`s a real professional, sticks his head down and tries hard, and he gave me a real good feel in the Greenham. Added to that, no horse will be fitter in the race.'

Redback is a general 33-1 chance for the Newmarket Classic.
