Gavin Cromwell sent out the first winner at Punchestown this afternoon when Secret Force landed the three-year-old hurdle and had news of his Velka Pardubicka winner Stumptown who is making the long journey home from the Czech Republic.

“He’s somewhere between Cologne and Calais at the moment, I think. It’s three full days driving," said the Co Meath trainer.

“He’ll be stabled in Dover tonight and then home tomorrow night.

“It was fantastic. I suppose with the way it happened as well, all the mistakes and being shuffled to the back, made it all the more exciting. It was brilliant.

“The big part of it was to be the first (Irish-trained horse) to do it, that’s great.

“It was brilliant for Keith as well. I don’t think too many would have won on him to be honest, he was very good and he’s clearly very good at the cross-country stuff.”
