The Philip Rothwell-trained Rockbrook made it back-to-back wins when making all the running to land the concluding Race And Stay Handicap Chase at Naas.

Off the mark over fences at Tramore recently, the three-time scorer over hurdles added a sixth career victory with a battling display here.

In front from the off, the GVD Syndicate-owned 7/2 chance jumped and travelled strongly under Tiernan Power Roche.

Strongly pressed on the run to two out, the eventual winner asserted from the back of the last to score by three lengths from Champagne Mahler

Philip Rothwell reported: “He loves soft ground and seems to be a better horse over a fence.

“He’s after having two races in just over a week, so he won’t be seen for six weeks or two months now and we’ll give him a chance.

“I’m delighted for the lads, great syndicate and they are great supporters of mine. They have two more young horses at home now.

“I keep saying great staff and great owners, that is all you need.”
