Rockingham The Target For Maarek Evanna McCutcheon is looking towards the Rockingham Handicap with stablemate stalwart Maarek. The 10-year-old has been in the mix on each of his four starts so far this term, finishing fifth three times and third on one occasion. While Maarek is now some way short of the kind of form that saw him win the Prix de l'Abbaye in 2013, McCutcheon believes he retains plenty of enthusiasm for the game. She said: "Maarek is in good form. Unfortunately there is nothing really for him until the Rockingham. "We have been delighted with him, he has brought back a bit of prize money every time he has ran. He is still showing plenty of zest for it and is loving life so I don't think you could contemplate the idea of retirement. "He has been carrying a hell of a lot of weight and running very well. If given a chance, he might just find a race that will come his way. "The chances of getting the right ground on Rockingham weekend are probably slim. "There is a Listed race in Cork that he could run in, but he probably won't because he has never run a good race at Cork. "Any of those handicaps from now until the end of the year he'll be there if he is right and well. As long as he's happy we're happy!"
