Roses set for Curragh Cup John Oxx has his sights set on the Curragh Cup for Roses For The Lady following her Listed race victory at Navan last month. The Currabeg trainer is hoping the ground will be soft for that meeting as the daughter of Sadler's Wells prefers a bit of cut. "The Curragh Cup on Irish Derby weekend will be the next start for her," said Oxx. "There aren't that many races for a four-year-old filly early in the season. She stays well and probably has a preference for soft ground. "We are not doing particularly much with her now she's won a stakes race and was second in the Irish Oaks. She has a good record so far, so we'll wait for the Curragh Cup and hope we get some rain that weekend." Oxx warned Rayeni is unlikely to run in the Weatherbys Ireland Greenlands Stakes at the Curragh on Saturday because of the quick conditions. "It's unlikely he'll get to run. The ground is fast, it's good to firm at the moment," he told At The Races. "I'm not sure what they are going to do about watering, but he would need a lot of rain for him to run so I would say it's unlikely he'll run. "He's a pretty versatile horse. Six furlongs or a mile, he seems to do both quite well, but unfortunately he's quite ground dependent."
