Ruby performs heroics as Harry takes the prize Ruby Walsh's visit to Fontwell for one ride didn't exactly go to plan, as his mount, the odds-on Pepe Simo pulled up in the Buckingham Group Contracting Ltd Beginners' Chase. However that doesn't tell the full story as Pepe Simo didn't jump well, making at least one spectacular blunder in which Walsh performed heroics to stay aboard. The son of Victory Note not altogether surprisingly pulled up as the runners approached the business end. Second favourite Harry Tricker eventually won the two mile two furlong contest. Winning rider Jamie Moore summed things up well when he told ATR: "Ruby showed what he was all about there. Twice I asked him on the way around if I could have his autograph."
