Sackville on the sidelines

Sackville is out for the rest of the season after sustaining an injury in a workout at Gowran Park racecourse today.

The Frances Crowley-trained gelding, generally a 33/1 chance for the Tote Cheltenham Gold Cup in March, returned to the stabling area with blood gushing from a wound having unseated amateur rider Gareth Power while popping over a few fences in the straight at the Co. Kilkenny track.

The ten-year-old, who had returned to form this season with victories at Haydock and Tramore, was taken afterwards to renowned vet Ned Gowing on the Curragh.
