Santa Anita too sharp for Intricately Joseph O'Brien is hopeful that Intricately can put her disappointing effort in the Breeders' Cup behind her and develop into a classic contender next year. The daughter of Fastnet Rock provided O'Brien and his younger brother Donnacha with a memorable Group 1 success when taking the Moyglare Stud Stakes at the Curragh on Irish Champions Weekend. The Pilltown trainer reports in his Boylesports Blog that the track at Santa Anita was too sharp for his main hope. “Things happened too quickly for her. We were a little concerned about that before the race but it was still great to be over there with a chance and get the experience.“ O’Brien added, “She’s still an exciting filly to look forward to next year and the Guineas route is a possibility.” He is full of praise for the ride Seamie Heffernan gave Highland Reel to land the Breeders’ Cup Turf for his father Aidan. Found finished third in the race and, although it may be the last we see of her, O’Brien was full of praise for the Arc winner. “She must be close to if not the highest earning mare of all time after the Breeders’ Cup. My dad said she’s the most genuine mare he’s worked with and it’s hard to find anything like her.”
